Hong Kong International Spring Lighting Fair Sets New Exhibitor Record

When the Hong Kong Trade Development Council’s Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Spring) opened its doors this week at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre it already was off to a good start with a record-breaking 950 exhibitors.

The show, scheduled April 6-9, is in its fourth year and attracted exhibitors from not only the Chinese mainland, but also France, Germany, Hong Kong, Korea, the Netherlands, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and the United States.

Vietnam also had exhibitors on the showfloor for the first time.

Fair highlights included three new dedicated product zones for more buying ease: the Hall of Aurora, spotlighting quality brand products, the Hall of LED and the World of Crystal Chandeliers.

Among the 93 exhibitors showcasing their high-end offerings at the Hall of Aurora, are Citizen, ETi, EVERLIGHT, Fulham, Huayi, Matrix, Skyworth, Starlight and TCL.

The Hall of LED had 512 exhibitors featuring the latest developments in LED indoor and outdoor lighting, LED display panels and LED parts, accessories and components.

Other fair areas featured commercial, decorative and green lighting, lighting accessories, parts and components, technical and outdoor lighting, trade services and publications.

Education also was an important component of the event, with a symposium that gathered together experts in LED lighting.

Other seminars included new regulations and standards in lighting products, as well as buyer forums and the latest intelligence on doing business in the Middle East and Russia. 

Last year, Hong Kong exported HK$9.8 billion worth of lighting products, up two per cent, compared with 2010.

Its top export markets by ranking were the U.S., mainland China, Japan, Germany and France.

RFID locks were installed on all meeting room doors, and over 200 motion detection cameras have been placed throughout the space.
