Intertextile Beijing to Relocate to Shanghai in 2014

July 8, 2013

The 2014 edition of Intertextile Beijing Apparel Fabrics will be relocated to Shanghai according to the show’s organiser Messe Frankfurt. To be renamed to Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Spring Edition, the relocated show will run from 3rd to 5th March at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center. The Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Autumn Editionin October will remain unchanged.

The first Intertextile was launched in 1995 and both editions together now cover around 200,000 m2 of exhibition space annually. Messe Frankfurt attributes Shanghai’s location as a textile manufacturing hub along, as well as possessing modern exhibition venues and a well-established hospitality sector as main reasons behind the move.

Wendy Wen, Senior General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd., commented, “In addition to the added convenience for local suppliers, a strong overseas visitor and exhibitor presence is expected due to the large numbers of international textile companies who have offices in the city and manufacturing plants in surrounding areas. Having the fair in Shanghai allows us to hold it in the first half of March, which is the preference of our stakeholders as this is the peak sourcing time in spring."
