Macau’s MICE Delegates Up 41% in 2015 Q3

Macau’s Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) has released the city’s MICE statistics for the third quarter of 2015. The city hosted 29 exhibitions and 184 conferences – an increase of 12% and 19% year-on-year respectively. The total number of participants and attendees at Macau’s MICE events increased by an impressive 41% to reach 1,009,794.

Large-scale exhibition led the growth for the quarter recording an attendee increase of nearly 43% year-on-year to 993,848. Among the 29 exhibitions, 17 of them reported 20,000 participants or more. A total of 1,842 exhibitors attended these events with over 42% coming from Macau, while Hong Kong accorded for an additional 25% at the exhibitions in Macau.

Macau’s meetings and conferences accounted for the majority of MICE events in the market with 184 events. Meetings and conference growth was strong – up 29% year-on-year in the third quarter. The number of participants at these events decreased 27% compared to the same quarter last year.
