2013 SIA Snow Show Already Sold Out at Denver’s Colorado Convention Center
Even after a mild winter this year, exhibitors for next year’s SIA Snow Show are betting on good times, buying out all of the space on the showfloor nine months in advance.
The announcement came during SnowSports Industries America’s annual spring board of directors meeting that was held in conjunction with the National Ski Areas Association National Convention & Trade Show in San Antonio, Texas.
The SIA show, on tap Jan. 31-Feb. 3 at Denver’s Colorado Convention Center, will not increase its space and booth fees will stay the same for the seventh year in a row, but there will be a waiting list, according to the show’s board of directors.
"After this season's less than stellar snowfall, it's encouraging to see our industry continue to stay positive and look to the future,” said SIA Chairperson Tim Petrick.
He added, “Selling out booth space this far in advance certainly speaks to the relevance of the Snow Show and its importance to the entire snow sports community.”
Show officials said they expect to draw thousands of attendees, including suppliers, retailers, reps, athletes and professionals from the snow sports industry.
SIA's On-Snow Demo/Ski-Ride Fest will follow the Snow Show at Winter Park Resort and Devil's Thumb Ranch February 4-5, 2013.
"The great thing about the SIA Snow Show is that you get to see entire lines, as well as browse for things that may fill gaps,” said Breg Culver, owner of Sliders Snowboard Shop based in Colden, N.Y.
He added, “Comparing sales statistics and products regionally is great, but it's even better to hear what people on the other side of the Mississippi are saying. I feel by going to Denver you get a true sense of the over-all industry vibe.”
The 2012 SIA Snow Show included a 334,640 net square feet showfloor, 470 exhibitors and 927 brands, as well as more than 1,000 television, radio, newspaper and online journalists.
The show also received positive reviews, with 94 percent of exhibitors and 96 percent of retailers surveyed this year saying they met their objectives at the SIA Show.
"The SIA Snow Show is a resounding success for our company; it's the perfect blend of business, fun, and snowboarding,” said Dan Sullivan, director of sales of Rome Snowboards.
He added, “The positive vibe that emanated from this year's show has come around full circle with SIA selling out this early.”
