September 19, 2011

TIPREX 2011, Thai International Plastics and Rubber Exhibition drew a record crowd of 10,500 attendees Aug. 31-Sept. 3 to the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre.

The number of attendees, 15 percent of which were from overseas, was a 30-percent increase, compared with the last time the event was held in 2009.

Countries such as India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam were strongly represented by the attendees.

There also were 215 exhibitors on the showfloor, including country pavilions from Austria, Singapore and Taiwan.

“TIPREX 2011 has exceeded expectations, not only in the number of exhibitors but in the very strong visitor turnout, particularly from overseas, which is certainly a bonus for a local exhibition like TIPREX,” said Gernot Ringling, managing director of Messe Düsseldorf Asia.

He added, Messe Düsseldorf Asia would like to thank the exhibitors, visitors, joint organizers, seminar speakers, sponsors and other participants who contributed to the success of TIPREX 2011.”

The show is jointly organized by Messe Düsseldorf Asia, The Federation of Thai Industries, The Plastic Industry Club and the Thai Plastic Industries Association.

Exhibitors gave the show glowing reviews:

“We are extremely satisfied with the quality of the crowd and the exhibition, and are confident that we will be back in 2013,” said Christian Veser, regional sales manager at KraussMaffei Technologies GmbH.

“The exhibition is very well-publicized. We saw crowds of qualified trade buyers and in fact sold four Wei Lee machines. The exhibition has far exceeded our expectations,” said Vichai Mongkolchaichawan, president and CEO of Patankit Charoen.

“I could not be happier with the results. Everything has been extremely professionally organized and publicized. We are also very happy with the response for our seminars which drew over 500 participants,” said Sukhumal Aranyapongpaisal, sales and marketing manager at Pack All Plastic.

TIPREX 2011 also included live demonstrations and a seminar series on various topics ranging from plastic and rubber technology to the elastomers market.

Wannarat Channukul, Thailand’s Minister of Industry, opened the exhibition: “Imagine a world without plastics and rubber, the most innovative materials of the 21st century. They are part of our daily lives, as well as part of our business and professional tasks. Thailand exported 492,423 automobiles in the first seven months of 2011, and they use a variety of plastics and rubber components, and in the first quarter of the year, Thailand exported US$7.4 billion worth of food packaging products which also use a significant amount of plastic material. The timing of this exhibition could not have been better.”

The next staging of TIPREX will be held in spring 2013 in Bangkok.
