CIFF Spring Edition Sees 26-percent Growth

May 21, 2012

CIFF is jointly organised by the China National Furniture Association, China Foreign Trade Centre (Group), Guangdong Furniture Association, and the Hong Kong Furniture & Decoration Trade Association. Held at the China Import & Export Fair Complex, phase one of CIFF received 1,600 exhibitors and occupied more than 350,000 sq. m. from Matrch 18-21 this year. The show included the events of CIFF-Home Furniture, Homedecor & Housewares China, Intertextile Guangzhou-Hometextile China and Outdoor & Leisure Guangzhou.

Phase two of CIFF, which ran March 27-30, included the CIFF-Office Show and China International Woodworking Machinery & Furniture Raw Materials Fair (CIFM) / interzum Guangzhou. Phase II occupied a total of 200,000 sq. m., up from 130,000 sq. m. last year, and hosted 1,046 trade visitors. Country pavilions at the show included those from Germany, the U.S., Canada, Italy, Spain, Turkey and Chile.

In particular, CIFM/interzum alone reportedly covered 130,000 sq. m. of space and attracted 1,046 exhibitors. Jointly organised by China Foreign Trade Centre (Group) and Koelnmesse, CIFM/interzum is reportedly the largest woodworking machinery and furniture raw materials event in Asia.

CIFF’s autumn edition is expected to cover a total exhibition area of 900,000 sq. m. and attract more than 200,000 buyers and 4,500 exhibitors. The Exhibition and Events Association of Australasia (EEAA) will seek additional funding from the State Government of Victoria for the expansion of the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC). The EEAA has been critical of the state’s latest budget plan, which overlooked funding for the exhibition industry.
