The Outdoor Industry Association and Outdoor Retailer will expand their partnership to offer more Outdoor University educational sessions at Outdoor Retailer trade shows.


Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, which takes place in early August in Salt Lake City, will feature a broadened curriculum designed to help the outdoor industry stay ahead of the curve on critical business topics.

 EasyFairs’ StocExpo, Europe’s top event for the tank terminal industry, has joined forces with Singapore-based Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions specialist, Singex, to enhance the development of its bulk liquid storage event in Asia – Tank Storage Asia.

According to various media reports, the Wuhan International Expo Center is set to open its doors on Oct. 15 in Wuhan, the capital city of Hubei province, China. Australia-based exhibition organiser, Exhibitions and Trade Fairs (ETF), announced the postponement of the company’s special events tradeshow – Melbourne’s Event Showcase (formerly RSVP Melbourne). ETF cited residual effects of the global financial crisis, the consolidation of event suppliers and reduced marketing budgets as deciding factors to postpone the 2012 edition of the show.

In deeply sad and shocking news, Gary Sain, Visit Orlando’s president and CEO, passed away suddenly Friday evening.


Shortly after Sain, who was 61, gave the opening remarks as event chairman for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida's Celebrate the Children fundraiser at the Orlando World Center Marriott he was stricken ill and taken to a nearby hospital where he died, according to local news reports.


The official cause of death has not been released, according to Visit Orlando officials.

Billed as the world’s largest trade fair, the Canton Fair held biannually in Guangzhou China, closed its doors in early May with numbers that were only slightly up.


Difficult financial and job market conditions in Europe and the United States impacted the show, though less than what was expected, according to organizers.


There were approximately 210,000 buyers from 213 countries, up 0.23 percent and 1.23 percent from the 110th and 109th sessions in 2011, respectively.

On the first day of U.K.-based Tarsus Group’s biennial Labelexpo Americas, the aisles were not only packed with more attendees than the 2010 show, but also the showfloor itself was bigger than two years earlier.


Pre-registration was up 7 percent, compared with the 2010 show, according to Labelexpo Americas Event Manager Tasha Ventimiglia.


The 2010 show came in at just more than 12,500 attendees, but this year's ended up drawing 14,355 attendees.
