International exhibition organiser, ITE Group plc, released its Interim Management Statement for the three months ended 30th June 2013. Revenues in the period were £95 million (US$145 million), compared with 2012’s £76 million (US$116 million). The group attributed part of the increase to its biennial event, Moscow International Oil & Gas and revenues from Metaltech, acquired in January 2013. Last month, the 18th edition of Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition, organised by Messe Frankfurt, attracted more than 116,000 visitors from 120 countries and regions – an increase of 6% over the previous edition. The show was sold out and welcomed 2,588 exhibitors from 27 countries and regions. The June Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair concluded last month with new record attendance figures. Organised by UBM Asia, the show attracted a new record of 1,841 exhibitors from 37 countries and regions, and more than 25,900 visitors from 113 countries and regions. The four-day trade show took place at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) from 20th to 23rd June 2013. Venue management company, AEG Ogden, has announced the appointment of Ms. Malu Barrios as the general manager of Sydney’s interim exhibition facilities at Glebe Island, the Sydney Exhibition Centre at Glebe Island. AEG Ogden was recently appointed as operator of the interim facilities by Australia’s New South Wales Government. Ms. Barrios has most recently been in charge of the Darwin Convention Centre, and has previously held the position of general manager of the Sydney Showground. From crazy nail designs to textured curls and wrinkle erasers, the spirit of style and rejuvenation was in the air at Cosmoprof North America, the annual trade show and conference for beauty professionals held July 14 -16 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. Despite the Chapter 9 bankruptcy filed by the city of Detroit last week, the meetings and conventions business won’t be impacted, according to Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau officials. They added that events already held in the city or ones that are considering Detroit for the first time will find their experience ‘seamless’. Freeman’s chief sales officer, Bob Priest-Heck, will step into the president and COO role when John O’Connell, the company’s current president, retires June 30, 2014.
