Ah, Google, our benevolent overlords.  I say that tongue in cheek, but Google has a good handle on how we are working, and connecting in our digital space.  Your event attendees will first connect with you online, and Google has some great tools that can help with your online content management.

Google +:  If you have not done so, get on Google + and set up an account.  This allows you, when you post content to Google+, access to the largest search engine on the planet.  You also want to add your colleagues and friends to your ‘circle’, so they will see your content first, and then be able to share it with your circle.  If you are ready to really get your name out there, move into Google authorship.

Google authorship:  This is a great tool to use for SEO and helping your content, and your name, get higher in the Google rankings.  It links your content to your name as author, and with your photo also attached, let’s readers know that Google recognizes the content as from a trusted author and not a spammer.  When you use Google authorship, think about how your content will then be associated with you as an expert, and the organic traffic your website and other content will get.

Google Hangout Air:  Google Hangouts are fun, but take that up a level to ‘Air’.  This is a tool with Google that allows you to broadcast your video live and have others be part of the conversation, like a webinar.  What’s more, once your Air time is over, you now have video content you can quickly post to YouTube, and share it with your Google + group (with your name attached to the content).  I am excited to try this out and self-broadcast my message.

Google gives you the ability to associate your name with your online content, and then use it to help with SEO, rankings, and views.  Keep these Google tips in mind for your online content strategy, and reach your attendees before they ever step foot in your physical space.
