Interbike, Health+Business Expo Will Leave Sands Expo in 2013 for Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas

June 13, 2012

Nielsen Expositions’ Interbike International Bike Expo and Health+Fitness Business Expo are leaving their home at the Sands Expo & Convention Center next year to move to the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

Show officials have signed a three-year agreement with Mandalay to host the collocated events beginning in 2013 and continuing through 2015.

Interbike’s OutDoor Demo product testing event, held for the two days preceding the show, will remain at the Bootleg Canyon venue in nearby Boulder City, Nev.

The 2013 Interbike and HFB shows will be held from Sept. 18-20, and the OutDoor Demo event will run Sept. 16-17.

“Moving to the Mandalay Bay Convention Center will allow us to create an even more dynamic event for the market,” said Pat Hus, Interbike’s managing director, who also oversees HFB.

He added, “Our goal for the show is the constant pursuit of improvement, and this is a vital step in that quest. We’re looking forward to being able to reinvent the show by adding more events, celebrations and providing more riding opportunities with the expansive outdoor areas at the MBCC.”

Moving venues has several other added benefits, according to show organizers, including the opportunity to create a new floor plan with product-segmented neighborhoods and better traffic flow patterns making it easier to shop the show.

In addition, exhibitors will benefit next year from an improved move-in and move-out experience because of the increased number of loading docks and freight doors, show organizers added.

“Additionally, there are several great attractions at the MBCC, including the House of Blues, Mandalay Beach, 28 full-service restaurants, a greater hotel selection that meets every budget, casinos and more,” Hus said.

He added, “We will be creating new events and activities all with the idea of keeping us together and engaged more in one location.”

Interbike, which is on tap Sept. 19-21 at the Sands Expo, was ranked No. 70 on last year’s TSNN Top 250 Trade Show list with 720 exhibitors, nearly 15,000 attendees (including exhibitor personnel) and a 297,800 net square foot showfloor.

Interbike and HFB show organizers said a new Web site has been set up, www.interbike.com/2013, with details and information about the move to Mandalay.
