With 2014 being the first full year for Suntec Singapore’s $184 million renovation to be experienced by events coming into the facility, it’s off to a very good start, with a packed calendar scheduled. Anticipating increased interest in UBM Asia’s Children Baby Maternity Industry Expo (CBME) after the Chinese government  announcing it will relax the one-child policy by allowing couples to have a second baby if either is the only child in family, the show recently went to the United Kingdom to expand its customer base. The 10th edition of Tarsus Group’s biennial Label Expo Asia broke attendance records when it was held Dec. 3-6 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. There were 21,416 attendees, an 18.8-percent increase, compared with 18,019 who came to the 2011 show. Attendees were from 87 countries, up 11 percent from 74 countries in 2011. ProWine China, a new event from the organizer of ProWein – the largest exhibition for wines and spirits held annually in Düsseldorf, Germany – was jointly organized by the Messe Düsseldorf Group and China International Exhibitions Ltd, a member of the Allworld Exhibitions network. The ITE Group formed a 50:50 Joint Venture with Hong Kong-based Worldcoat Exhibitions Ltd., resulting in the creation of a new organizer, Sinostar ITE, and acquisition of two major trade events, ChinaCoat and SFChina (surface finishing). The Hong Kong Trade Development Council’s eight fairs held in October and so far in November have brought in not only nearly 8,700 exhibitors, but also 200,000 buyers, up five percent, compared with the year before. It’s estimated that the fairs also brought in more than HK$1.4 billion to Hong Kong, not including trade orders. Even with challenges in Western markets, the Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles – Autumn Edition drew not only a slight increase in visitors, compared with the 2012 event, but also a record number of countries took part this year.
