March 25, 2013

UBM Asia getting ready to launch not one, but two new shows in the Asia-Pacific region, with Intermach Myanmar, the first international industrial manufacturing and subcontracting exhibition in the country, as well as South East Asia's first international Pet Asia 2013 in Singapore.

UBM Asia, through its Thailand division, already launched a highly successful Intermach show in that country and now will expand the brand into the fast-growing Myanmar market Oct. 24-26 at the Tatmadaw Exhibition Hall in Yangon.

Southeast Asia is poised for even more growth, with the implementation of the AEC (Asian Economic Community) in 2015, the region will become the third-largest trading bloc on the planet with a population exceeding 600 million, according to UBM officials.

Foreign investors who are eyeing Myanmar, in particular, following the country's recent political and economic reforms, will now be able to take advantage of multiple new opportunities.

"With unprecedented growth and development now underway in Myanmar and set to grow even further with the new ASEAN Economic Community – the timing for Intermach Myanmar couldn't be better," said M. Gandhi, managing director (ASEAN Business) of UBM Asia.

He added, "The inaugural event is expected to host leading industrial machinery manufacturers from around the world. It is also projected to host quality trade visitors."

Intermach Myanmar 2013 will be collocated with Subcon Myanmar 2013 – Myanmar's first international industrial subcontracting event.

The global pet industry also is seeing a period of explosive growth. In the United States alone, there are 77.5 million pet dogs and 93.6 million pet cats.

Pet ownership also is increasing in other parts of the world, including India, Russia, Romania, Morocco, Thailand, South Africa, Indonesia, Slovakia, Venezuela, Mexico, Latin America, Japan and Vietnam.

As a result, UBM Asia has decided to launch a pet-focused show May 30 at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore collocated with Aquarama 2013, the 13th edition of the International Ornamental Fish and Accessories Exhibition.

Pet Asia 2013, for the pet supplies and accessories market, will have exhibitors representing all facets of the pet care industry.

In addition, there is expected to be to an expected turnout of 5,000 trade and 15,000 public visitors, among them important pet industry decision-makers, buyers and C-level executives from industry representing suppliers, distributors, buyers, wholesalers and retailers, according to UBM Asia officials.

The two shows will span an area of 8,310 square meters (89,448 square feet) and house some 200 exhibitors from all over the world.
